Bob, 34 Weeks and a Graduate

34 Weeks

34Weeks along and Bob is around 5 lbs or so. Bob now simultaneously kicks me high, low, left and right. It’s quite the site to see!

Greg & I had our final Childbirth Prep Class last night. I don’t know if we really needed 4 nights of classes at 2 ½ hours each, but we did learn some good information. Plus, our “after school snack” was to go to Pinkberry, so I always had that waiting for me.

We’ve slowly begun buying the larger items for Bob’s room. It’s coming along & we should have the changing table/dresser by the weekend and then we’ll also put together the crib. I started working on a custom doggy bed for Tupelo to have in Bob’s room – she’ll need a comfy place to hang while watching over her new lil’ Bob. Pics to come soon!

Bob, 33 Weeks & Showered with (more) LOVE!

33 Weeks

33 weeks & whew, those kicks are becoming a bit more intense as Bob is taking up all the room & there’s not more amniotic fluid to cushion the dance party in my belly! I’m also experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions (false labor) which can be a bit uncomfortable as well, but tolerable. More importantly than me feeling uncomfortable, Bob is building up the immunities now! Super Bob!

We had our west coast shower over the weekend & had a wonderful time! My mom, Joy, was able to visit from FL and in spite of horrible flight delays that included being stranded in Dallas overnight (ick), feeling Bob kick & sharing in the shower made it all worth it! Our shower was hosted by our wonderful friends Aarin Findley & Jess Kender Page. From the one of a kind invite design to all the food, drink & decoration details and personal touches, big & small, Greg & I (& Bob) felt truly showered with love! Thanks to Drew Findley & his fancy camera, pics are below:

Bob, 32 Weeks & Boom Boom Boom!

32 Weeks

32 weeks & entering into my 8th month of pregnancy – wow! Really getting close to “go” time! I had my 31 week appt last week & was told everything looks perfect so far – my weight, belly size, blood pressure, Bob’s heart rate & all those other belly sounds she listens to with her little handheld Bob/belly microphone. According to “the book”, Bob is officially opaque – no more see-through Bob. Bob is already on his/her own little schedule. Bob likes to conduct dance parties in my belly around 4am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm & 11pm.

We had our 1st childbirth class last week & have the 2nd tonight. We are required to bring pillows & a blanket for the remainder of the classes which makes me a little nervous as I’m prone to narcoleptic-like instant napping. Last week, so many students asked what seemed like ridiculous questions, that I started to doze off just sitting upright in my chair. Don’t know what’s going to happen if I’m lying down with pillows, a blanket and Greg’s lap! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Last week was 4th of July - Happy Birthday, America! - and Bob didn't seem to notice the crazy boom-boom of fireworks at all. Below are some pics of the Highland Park festivities:

Illegal...clearly.

Bob, 31 Weeks & a Makeover (of sorts)

31 Weeks
31 weeks along & looking bigger everyday. The other day Greg said, “Well, you’re still gonna get bigger. The baby’s gaining a pound a week til the end, right?” To which I said, “Uh, NO…that would mean I’m giving birth to a 13 pound baby. I gain about a pound a week…not the baby.” To which he replied, “Oh, that makes much more sense.” We have our first of four Childbirth classes tonight.

Our guestroom has already changed title to “Bob’s Room.” And the makeover has begun (albeit slowly.) Basically, it’s received a gutting & new paint. I was a bit ambitious considering my inexperience with paint and chose a horizontal stripe for the walls. Around the time of taping, I was really thinking I’d bitten off more than I could chew, but once it was time to rip off that tape, I was very pleased with the result. And for those concerned, I had my dr's permission to paint, I only painted in the mornings when it was cool enough to open all the windows & run the fan and I wore a painting mask. Also, I chose Benjamin Moore’s eco/green line of Natura paint with zero VOC & no odor. They’re one of the only paint companies that guarantee the color added to the paint is also no VOC (whereas other brands have “zero VOC” paints, but the color added to them contain VOCs.) I chose alternating grays (though in the pics they just look white & blue.) Although we don’t know if Bob is a boy or a girl, I would’ve chosen this paint either way. Whenever I hear people say “I wanted to know the gender of my babies before giving birth so that I didn’t have to decorate in yellow and green” I wonder, “Don’t you know there are other colors?” Before/After pics below:

Guestroom - Before

Where are we gonna put all these books? No, seriously.

Pretty windows

Swatches - Began as 4, Grew to 7

Then "narrowed down" to 12. Sigh.

...aaaand we begin...

By this time, I was cursing tape, stripes, paint, ladders and me.

But alas, turned out the way I wanted! Yea!

Ta-Da!!!
