Being One is Fun

Myles Experiments with Gravity & Snack Food

Tupelo, showing great restraint

Totally relaxed at My Gym

Lounging with Tupelo

Note what is happening here.

We finally had a "jacket weather walk" complete with delicious big boy shoes.

It was bound to happen eventually. Myles kicks his Daddy in the groin.

Sad Monkey.

Myles had his first swim lesson over the weekend. He did GREAT!

"Umm, I dunno what y'all got planned, but I'm watching you!"

Myles was the only baby to reach for the pvc "island" & hang on by himself
(the fact that he wanted to eat it is neither here nor there.)
Here is footage of Myles doing something he was cool with, but that I hated.
I was a big girl y'all. No tears from me! :-)

Floater

After his swim lesson, we headed to the Dough Flat Trailhead to look for condors.
We saw zero of them.

ONE is FUN!

Myles is ONE (but that's old news, I suppose)

Myles One Year Check Up
21.15 lbs
31"

Treehugger

Myles had his one year check up & all looks good for our big boy! Now that he's one & "all growns up", he has started to get into a bit of mischief (albeit cute mischief.)

He recently crawled into Tupelo's crate & got himself stuck...

He has also discovered the automatic trash can lids...

Good oral hygiene

Lake Balboa Park

Bucket Swing

"Holy cow, who is that cute baby in the mirror?!"

Waiting to see the doctor...

Myles loves to look for airplanes...

...and is always quick to point them out.

I took Myles to the Korean Chuseok (Fall Harvest Moon) Festival at the Zimmer Children's Museum. It was little more than white kids demonstrating Tae Kwon Do & a few plates of snacks, but still fun.

Myles enjoyed the magnet animal wall.

And, woo hoo, there was an airplane too!

Papa & GG Visit LA

Nothing like having a baby to get east coast parents to fly west! My parents, aka GG & Papa, came to visit for Myles's 1st birthday. Besides the beach birthday party & presents, we went to the Hollywood Animals Ranch to meet the new baby, Denali the tiger!

We were having record temps during my parents visit & more than one person accused them of bringing the FL humidity with them (though the LA humidity is NOTHING compared to the South), so much of our time was spent in the AC.

While here, my parents hosted a Low Country Boil at our home as a "Thank You" to all our very special friends who helped us so much after Myles was born. Myles ate up GG's yummy shrimp! Mmm, delicious!

Low Country Kid Table

Myles took GG & Papa on a Dessert Date to Pinkberry!

Greg & my Dad rented a boom to take out our ginormous dead gum tree.

Who's the boom king? Greg's the boom king.

Crushed it.

Myles likes to give 10, not just the usual 5.
It was so nice having my parents here for a nice long visit. Myles got to bond & hang with his grandparents; my Dad braved black widow spiders, wasps, 105+ degree weather & a house rule of "no tv while Myles is awake" while tearing down a grody shed behind our garage, cleaning said garage & helping chainsaw a bunch of trees; my Mom cleaned & cooked - besides the Low Country Boil, she made her family-famous Korean bulgogi & schooled some snotty butchers at Whole Foods on the proper way to cut meat; they helped with the birthday party & of course, spent loads of time with Myles. My mom fed Myles many a meal & enjoyed what a mimic he has become & Myles loved when my Dad would take him for little walks around the backyard. And their "grandwiener", Tupelo, thoroughly enjoyed having 2 more laps to choose from for naps & general cuddlings. Myles, Tupelo, Greg & I had such a great visit with them - Wonderful parents make even better Grandparents! We love you Papa & GG! XO
