Took another step towards opening an in home child care – completed my Pediatric First Aid/CPR training. 8 long hours of information I’ve sat through multiple times due to many years in child care. You’d think ½ hour for lunch wouldn’t be enough, but after looking at pictures of wounds, it’s plenty. It’s a bit odd that in a “pediatric” class, we cover what to do if you come upon an injured driver (I find that babies rarely drive vehicles), ways to prevent a stroke (don’t smoke – I find that babies rarely smoke) and how to safely move an unconscious “larger individual” (I find babies are often smaller than I.) All useful info, certainly, but seemingly misplaced in this particular class. And in summation, all scenarios include “call 911.” The 7 hour Preventative Care Class is in two weeks. I’ve taken that class previously as well – 7 hours of how to wash your hands and warnings against splashing around in blood. Also an appetizing way to prepare for lunch. Mmmmm. Wish me luck!
